最近在申请英国媒体硕士的学生当中，有的人对于LSE趋之若鹜，有的嗤之以鼻，LSE我觉得是G5里面争议最大的学校了，而它的难度也随着专业变化很大。媒体硕士其实和传播学还是有区别，但是很多学生混着申请不是不行，而且英国的媒体和传播学差别不是很大，不像美国和荷兰的传播学难度那么大。而LSE作为媒体专业比较标志性的G5学校之一，有9个专业与媒体相关让大家傻傻分不清楚,8个 taught,一个research Track，Priscilla这里先将前5个一个一个给你解说，让你充分看到自己是否符合申请的本科背景，再努力来尝试。而因为长达9个项目太多，所以分为两部分

专业一：MSc/MA Global Media and Communications

The MSc Double degree in Global Media and Communications is a unique programme and offers the opportunity to study and gather experience in two cities (London and Los Angeles, Shanghai or Cape Town) with close connections and ties to global media industries. You will attend 2 top ranking educational institutions, the London School of Economics (LSE) in London in your first year, and the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, Fudan University in Shanghai or the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. In our ever increasing globalised world, international experience gained on one of our Global programmes is invaluable and gives students a great knowledge and experience base to work from.

这是个双学位的项目，可以同时在USC和复旦的双学位项目，但是如果申请USC，需要提交Writing Sample,而国内的复旦比较坑爹，需要考研，所以复旦还是算了。。。。

雅思的要求是7分，而背景基本都是国内985，GPA至少3.5，建议到达3.7比较稳

专业二：MSc Media and Communications

MSc Media and Communications

含有传播学的媒体硕士一定和本身纯的媒体硕士不一样，这一点申请的学生在写文书的时候一定要注意，这一点可以从项目介绍中看出，传播学的本质是有效沟通，这层有效沟通解决问题的方式不仅仅存在政治问题，能源问题，组织行政或者其他，所以含有传播学的媒体硕士写动机信的职业定位不能简单从线上媒体和线下媒体两部分，从新媒体等等形式来定夺，而是要考虑群体传播、组织传播和大众传播，而突出的是人与社会。

Q&A是否不够语言可以申请？最佳申请时间究竟是什么时候？

不建议，虽然LSE有语言学校，但是仍然建议够分后递交网申。如果彻底没有雅思成绩是不行的，学校会一直默认你是材料不全而不去审理，所以就没有必要那么早递交了。而对于已经有雅思，但是不够的情况下，也不要冒然递交申请，除非你确定下一次考试马上出分，而且有信心能够拿到最低要求，但是这样做也非常有风险，因为LSE有时候申请的人多了，会没有耐心直接拒了，而不是等你后面还刷分。

第一批的Offer会一月份开始发送，所以媒体申请的只要圣诞节前递交就好，不要慌慌张张的10月份递交。

专业三：MSc Media and Communications (Data and Society)

MSc Media and Communications (Data and Society)

下面不再全部讲，重点讲和上面专业的差别。专业三和专业二的差别其实已经不大了，都是传播学范畴，但是强调Data，强调Data Analysis，而申请者的成绩单建议由相应的information science或者计算机基础课程，比如C++, java,计算机基础，网络信息等等课程，会增加申请者的申请优势，如果有工作经验也会有加分，这个专业相对偏理

• a broad understanding of data, information and knowledge as aspects of contemporary society, including theoretical and analytic perspectives

来的学生对于Data Analysis背景要求不是强求的，但是建议有，而动机信的素材和职业定位建议与跨文化交流相关

专业四：MSc Media and Communications (Governance)

MSc Media and Communications (Governance)

When urgent questions are being asked, after controversies such as the Edward Snowden revelations, about government’s influence on the internet and the power of media corporations, the content of this programme has never been more relevant.

The MSc Media and Communications (Media and Communication Governance) has a strong focus on international comparison, including at the European level, with opportunities to take courses in departments of Media and Communications, Government and Law.

大众传媒中关于在国外的杂志报刊刊登可能影响政局和形式的影响，举个最基本你的例子，为什么欧洲会大量引入难民，就是在2015年刊登一个叙利亚难民小孩沙滩上因为无法登陆而死去的悲惨照片如下，这一张照片在媒体的宣传对整个欧洲政治都产生印象，欧盟由德国主导开始引入难民，每一国家都有适当的配额：

这个专业仍然偏向文科，要读的书很多，社科相应的课程也非常多，所以没有做好大量阅读写论文的准备不要申请这个专业。

专业五：MSc Media, Communication and Development

MSc Media, Communication and Development

偏重研究和学术研究，是通往媒体专业Mphil和PHD的方向，但是大背景不变，仍然强调的是在文化和政治背景下的传播学，申请时虽然不用上传论文，但是建议要在简历里面有研究经历，否则根本看不出研究能力和critical thinking
